Friends often come to me asking if I know a good therapist. Not because I’m of any use, but because my wife is a therapist and has a great referral network.

So I let her know what they’re looking for, she spends some time picking someone from her network who she thinks fits, and my friend ultimately gets a referral they can trust.

That system works great if you happen to know a therapist. Most people don’t, and even the ones who do can find it hard to bring up personal issues.

Searching on your own is even harder. You’re already overwhelmed with what brought you to therapy in the first place, and now you’re staring at a hundred tabs of credentials and specialties with no way to tell who would actually be a good fit.

A lot of people give up right there. Not because they don’t need the help, but because choosing feels impossible.

I’ve spent twenty years building websites for local businesses and clients around the world, and this felt like it could be good challenge to tackle.

So I built KW Therapists: a site just for Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge that works the way a good referral does. It matches you with local therapists based on what you need and how you want therapy to feel.

You might not get the perfect match on the first try. But even if it just gets you just a little bit closer to the right person, I think that’s a far better outcome than closing your browser out of frustration.
